18th April 2017, Gurgaon: Mr. Manohar Lal Khattar, Chief Minister of Haryana has already given directions to open the rail overbridge on the Gurgaon-Dwarka Expressway by the middle of May. Mr. Khattar is fully aware that the Basai flyover is currently not able to handle the traffic load but he also states that both the expressway and ROB should be opened for better local traffic movement.
The CM performed a city-wide inspection for about three hours and pointed out the inadequacies to the officers. He also pulled out the officers for the poor condition of roads and sanitation. The CM inspected the Basai flyover and expressed the need for its widening as well. He said that he has already estimated its feasibility and after the long inspection, CM stated that the ROB is ready and it should be opened by 15th May.
The overbridge is 1,200 meters long and it is being built jointly by HUDA and Indian Railways. HUDA is spending around Rs. 153 crore on the project which is quite a huge amount of money. The overbridge should generate the appropriate local traffic movement after the opening. It should not only be considered as a connectivity measure to the Gurgaon-Dwarka Expressway. It will also ensure better connectivity between Pataudi and Basai roads. Also, the residents are expected to avail great connectivity benefits once it is opened. Especially the residents from sector 81 to 115 are considered as the primary beneficiaries.
